The 10″ Service No 1 Guard Khukuri | EGKH Military Kukri is the most common and popular khukuri amongst Army soldiers. This khukuri (also called “kukri” or “khukri” in the west) is very famous among Army servicemen because of its close association with the Army. We have remade it and now is more stronger and steadier because of the flat tang blade design with two rivets bolting from both sides.
All Khukuris have two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals such as rabbits. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as a conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing an enemy blade. This is an outdoor or jungle knife very handy for heavy-duty tasks like bone chopping while being suitable for camping as well.
This 10″ Service No 1 Guard Khukuri | EGKH Military Kukri is handcrafted khukuri therefore please note that each one might have slight variations in measurement. This khukuri with a full tang handle with guard is hand forged by the blacksmith or “Kaami” originated in the Eastern part of Nepal. It has a semi-polished razor-sharp blade that is easy to sharpen and a balanced oil quenching on the edge.
